This book is absolute dreck. Double thumbs up on the intense description and detail put into that scene. This book is a vacation from Anita’s usual life because she travels to New Mexico to help Edward, the assassin, solve a case. See all reviews. I’ll break it down to my two points.

Edward is living as normal guy Ted, with his gi Edward asks Anita to help him solve a grisly case of murders where he lives with his new family, under a secret identity.
The events of this novel take place in May, a whole 9 months after the events of Blue Moon. There are people like Anita who do it legal, but Edward doesn’t sweat the legalities, or, hell, the ethics. So, what does this one get? How could anyone not like it? In this novel, Anita travels to New Mexico to investigate a series of supernatural attacks as a favor to her long-time friend, the assassin Edward.
For this particular book, people either loved it for hated it. Anita has been worshipped by all the men in her life for too long that she can’t stand being second best to another woman. It is actually the only book of the entire series that caused me palatable upset. So I think that’s what we’re supposed to worry about – what will she trade this time to save those she doesn’t really like but will risk not life and limb!
His relationship with Anita in this book goes from professional rivals to friends and I liked that development. This was the last Anita Blake novel worth reading, primarily because of Edward.
